Abstract

Sunflower is one of the major oilseed crops used for vegetable oil production. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of poultry manure–Alsil and NPK–Alsil fertilizer combinations on sunflower growth and yield in Kinshasa in order to identify the best- performing combinations. The trial was conducted using a randomized complete block design with three replicates. Treatments were compared by analysis of variance (ANOVA) at the 5% significance level, followed, when significant differences were detected, by the least significant difference (LSD) test. Fertilizer combinations significantly affected several growth and yield parameters. Among the treatments for which results are reported in the tables, the highest yields were obtained with T2 (250 g poultry manure + 70 g Alsil), with a plot yield of 0.95 kg and an estimated yield of 2.48 t/ha, followed by T3 (250 g poultry manure + 80 g Alsil), with 0.88 kg and 2.30 t/ha, respectively. These findings indicate that combining poultry manure with Alsil can improve sunflower productivity under the soil and climatic conditions of Kinshasa.
