The purpose of this research is to observe the sprouting power and morpho-vegetative parameters of three types of plantain shoots in Gbadolite, DRC. The experimental design was a completely randomized block design with three replicates and three treatments in pairs. The field was 6 m long and 3 m wide. The cultivars were arranged so that the flambé cultivars were adjacent. Each plot contained 10 suckers separated by 10 cm. This study shows that flambé plants are robust and conical in shape, while vivoplants are smaller and cylindrical in shape. The weaned vivoplants have fully developed leaves, whereas the weaned flamboplants do not. The number of shoots weaned per bulb was 21 versus 31 ; 16 versus 25 ; and 15 versus 26 for the Yongo flambé and PIF cultivars, respectively; Mosantu flambé and PIF, and Ngbangele flambé and PIF, respectively. The PIF technique proved to be more effective in terms of sprouting than flaming, but the flamboplants were more vigorous than the vivoplants during this experiment.
